Installation overview:

Patio awnings made by different manufacturers can vary wildly. So be sure that you follow up this overview by following all manufacturer's instructions.

1. Using a laser level, mark the awning location.
2. From inside the house, locate the wall stud between a door or window and where the outer bracket will sit.
3. Measure the distance and jot down the measurement.
4. Duplicate the measurement on the exterior of the house 7/8" below chalk line.
5. Drill a starter hole to the center of the stud.
6. Lay out a vertical line and mount the bracket on this line level with the chalk line.
7. Mark bracket holes on wall.
8. Mount the studs.
9. Fasten the other end bracket.
10. Press awning bar into brackets
11. Set the pitch.
12. Test that the retracts and extends without pinching or jerking
