Think long term outdoor
durability.
Metal is your friend -- it will
last for centuries.
Plastic resin or vinyl
wicker make fabulous outdoor furniture,
too.
These not only look great, but
they're lightweight, crazy-durable, extremely
comfortable and may also last for centuries.
I've got $10 resin
Adirondack-style chairs that have been outdoors for 3
years now.
They're decorated with
overstuffed pillows on the seats and the backs. Only the
pillows live inside during winter -- the chairs stay
out.
They're power-washed at the
beginning of the season. And they look as good now as
they did when they were brand new!
What about adding a chaise lounge or
foot rests to your decorating scheme. Sitting is great,
but lounging is better -- especially in an outdoor room
where you’ll spend lots of time.
Why not outfit your outdoor space with a
table and chairs during the week for carefree alfresco
dining. On weekends, change things up a little and
outfit it for more leisurely activities.
Here’s an idea: Get an inexpensive
4-inch foam pad that's cut to fit the dimensions
of your outdoor room floor. Cover the mattress with
weather-worthy fabric. Use the same fabric to make
pillow shams and put them on big body pillows.
Now spend the weekend in your
fresh-air family room. You’ll have lots of space for
conversation, reading, and napping.
You may never live indoors again!
